Motorized Valve Repair Replacing Synchronous Motor
This video shows you from start to finish how to remove the synchronous motor from the zone valve and then replace a new one.The procedure is the same for a two port valve or a three port Mid position valve. The procedure is demonstrated on a Honeywell zone valve but is basically the same for most common types. The replaceable synchronous motors are universal and will fit most common types of motorized valves.

This is not an exhaustive list If your model dose not appear in the list above but has a exchangeable synchronous motor like the one in the photos then the procedure is the same or very similar .
The synchronous motor is responsible for opening and closing the zone valve.
It is an efficient and clever device that is constantly under strain when your
heating or hot water is in operation.
Because of this the motor is prone to burning out and will need replacing
from time to time.
Turn on your heating or hot water as you normally would to start it up. Locate leaver on the side of your zone valve. Pull the leaver across ( with some resistance ) If your heating / hot water comes on for a few moments then shuts off, then you only need to change the synchronous motor ( No Need To Drain Your System )
